Warnings/Warranty

 

The Motor Analyzer – 3000HDMP is a precision electronic instrument and should be treated accordingly.

 

The Motor Analyzer – 3000HDMP is warranted for 30 days from receipt of purchase against component failure and workmanship errors. Contact 3^rd Eye for a return material authorization prior to returning product, 3^rd Eye will not accept product without prior notification. The owner is responsible for return shipping charges.

 

1.        Measures have been taken to prevent intermittent overload damage, however, Third Eye Technology does not warrant the unit against abusive and/or intentional repeated overloads less than the duty cycle period. Note: The warranted short circuit/overload duty cycle period is ½ hr between shorts. Damage may occur to the unit and is not warranted for cycles less than the warranted period (The damage will be evident).

2.        The unit should not be set to pull continuous near maximum current at any output voltage, damage to the unit can occur and is not warranted against this mode of failure.

3.        For maximum safety Do not attempt to defeat or cut off the ground pin off the 3 prong power cord. For safety reasons the output voltage is referenced to earth ground potential (not floating), do not attempt bias the unit above earth ground potential.

4.        Analyzer is for slot car motor/tools use only, not for use as an auxiliary power source or battery charger.

5.        Never obstruct the fan inlet or exhaust vents, damage to the unit may occur, (remove from your box if necessary). 3rd Eye does not warrant against lack of cooling to the unit.

 

 

 

 

Notes:

 

 

1.        Never obstruct the fan inlet or exhaust vents, (damage and/or thermal shutdown of the unit may occur.

2.        The leads maybe shorted indefinitely without damage occurring to the unit.

3.        The Protection mode of operation is not designed, or intended or guaranteed for repeated intentional operation and is only implemented only to provide user confidence, circuit reliability and to extend overall product life.

4.        Continued repeated overload at high duty cycle rates will may eventually cause damage to the unit.

5.        The unit is intended for breaking in motors, Tire turning and other slot car uses. Do not use this unit outside of the units intended usethis area.

 

 

OPERATION

1.        Plug the unit into a 120Vac (3-prong) outlet only).

2.        Adjust the output voltage to minimum (.71.24V).

3.        Set the Volt/Amp switch to Volts.

4.        Plug in the Power Plug, Connect the Red (+) and the Black (-) lead to the motor or tool (center post is + on the power jack).

5.        Press the RED on/off button to the ON position.

6.        Adjust the output voltage to the desired level from (.71.24V-12V).

7.        Set the Volts/Amp switch to Amps; verify that the desired load current is within limits.

1.        Turn the power on and off or readjust adjust the output voltage as necessary for the desired application.

WOB OPERATION

 

1.When the power is turned and the output set at minimum (1.24) the car (especially with powerful motors) the wheels should begin turning.

1.Press the WOB button and the car wheels should slow to a crawl in order to observe wobbling, gear mess, clearances or general alignment/misalignment etc.

1.In the event the car wheels stop, release the WOB button then slightly increase the output voltage until the wheels continue to slowly turn is achieved.

Note: The WOB feature is a desirable feature, however some experimentation with various motors/cars may be necessary before the full affectivity can be realized.   

 

Protection Mode

 

1.        In the event that the output leads are inadvertently and continuously shorted, the Analyzer limits the absolute output current to a safe maximum current of 13-168-10A.

2.        After a duration of around 30-60 seconds the Analyzer will “shutdown” by means of displaying a “1” on the meter indication (volts or amps) and limits the output current to a low level below around ..25A

3.        After the overload is removed for a minimum of 15-seconds, the Analyzer will automatically resets itself and allows full power output to resume.

 

 

Output Power Plug replacement

 

1.        Output Power Plug is 1/8’ mono phone plug Radio Shack P/N 274-286, the center pin is positive (red clip)

2.        Red and black clips similar replacement (slightly larger) 1 ¼’ test clip from multi piece package Radio Shack P/N 270-1545.

3.        Output leads is 18awg slot car lead wire purchased at your local track.

4.        The whole Output Power Plug assembly can be purchased from 3^rd Eye.
